sofa bed is becoming a more and more popular choice for those who like to entertain guests but have a limited amount of space available in their property. With their ability to function both as a bed and as a sofa, they offer the ultimate in flexibility and essentially get the buyer two products in one! With the fact that many sofa beds can be bought at the same price as a normal bed, it makes the purchase of one a far more attractive proposition the more it is thought about!

The most important factor to consider when purchasing a sofa bed is the question of whether it will fit in with an already decorated room or whether it will upset the balance and make the room look badly put together. There are two major considerations here. Firstly the colour is very important. A green sofa red would look horrible placed in a room where the main colour was red, as would a blue sofa bed in a pink room. The safest option is to buy one that is of a neutral colour so that it will fit in anywhere. The frame of the bed is also very important to its overall style. Whilst many frames are covered, it is possible to buy those with an exposed wooden frame – this looks fantastic in rooms that are already furnished with other wooden items, especially as the wood can often easily be stained to achieve the same colour.

Another important factor is the price of the bed. Those on a strict budget can easily buy a sofa bed for less than Ł100, but it must be remembered that sofa beds follow the basic rule of buying – the more that is spent, the higher the quality of item you will get. A more expensive bed will generally last longer and stop the need for a replacement having to be bought in a couple of years’ time.

It is also extremely important to decide on the type of upholstery that you wish a sofa bed to be covered in, with the two main types being leather and the second being a more standard material. Leather has its biggest advantages in the fact that it looks stylish and is easy to clean, however the price tag on a leather sofa – or even a faux leather one – can often be much higher than other types. Sofa beds with regular upholstery are certainly more affordable and offer a great choice should the owner be worried about an expensive purchase being damaged. The down side id that stain a lot easier and require much more vigorous cleaning. Many people also often say that regular sofa beds provide a much better night of sleep, as leather beds can become hot and uncomfortable.

Whatever sofa bed is chosen, it can be guaranteed that its practical uses will be invaluable to the homeowner who often has guests to stay. With the huge increase in quality of sofa beds in recent years, they are comfortable and useful at the same time!
